In the world of books, a “Fukumimi (lucky ear)” is a small part of paper left on the inside of a book after the paper is folded inward and cut during bookbinding.
Nowadays, the level of bookbinding machines and the accuracy of inspection have improved dramatically compared to a decade ago, and “Fukumimi” has become a rare type of error that is almost impossible to find. And even if they miraculously passed the bookbinder's check and made it to the bookstore, it would be a miracle to conceal their existence for decades, as they should have been returned.
